Kısa vadede ekonomik tedbirler alması için Avrupa Birliği tarafından uyarılan Yunanistan, ilk ekonomik paketini açıkladı. Krizin etkilerini ciddi anlamda hisseden ve 300 Milyar Euro borç paritesi bulunan Yunanistan, seçimin ardından ekonomik tedbirler için düğmeye bastı. Avrupa Birliği’nin hasta ülkesi Yunanistan, ekonomik tedbirlerini açıklarken düşük ve orta gelir grubuna ait vatandaşlarını mağdur etmeyeceklerini ve paketin gelir seviyesi açısından bu grupları ekonomik olarak daha da yükselteceğini belirtti.

Yunan parlamentosunun üst kanadının maaşları dondurulacak. Kamu İktisadi Kuruluşları’nın yönetici maşlarında yüzde 50’ye varan oranda indirimler uygulanacak. Yönetim kadroları azaltılacak. En üst düzey devlet memuru maaşı 2000 Euro civarında olacak. Askeri giderlerde yüzde 10 kısıtlamaya gidilecek. Ülke dışı turizm bürolarının yüzde 30’u kapatılacak. Gayrimenkuller başta olmak üzere alınan vergiler arttırılacak. Gelecek yıl itibariyle kamuya memur alımları kaldırılacak. Vergi toplamada yaşanan sıkıntıların önüne geçmek için, özel timler kurulacak. Özelleştirmeye hız verilecek. İlk etapta limanlar özelleştirilecek.
